This stained glass door panel was mounted into the great room door of a home leading out to the backyard deck. The idea came from the client's appreciation of other southwestern inspired artworks I have done.
One of the nicest qualities of stained glass is that it looks continually different throughout the day as the amount of light changes with the angle of the sun. This door, for example, gets direct sunlight in the mornings since it faces east. As the day progresses, the light becomes more indirect, which gives a slightly dimmer but more even illumination of the artwork. As the sun descends in the west in late afternoon and evening, the too-little remaining light gives an altogether new and somewhat eerie feeling to the artwork.

Each setting is different. Be sure to give me input on which way your windows face when ordering a custom artwork.
